Sunrise on the Back River Estuary

Maine’s Boothbay region is a treasure trove of picturesque fishing villages, rugged shorelines, iconic lighthouses, and pristine estuaries. This tranquil scene, captured at sunrise, reflects the timeless beauty of the coast. But what makes it even more fascinating is how it transforms with the tides.

Lake Mead Recreation Area

There’s nothing quite like escaping the cold, wet clutches of a snowy New Hampshire March and stepping into the warmth of the desert. I've had the pleasure of exploring the breathtaking landscapes of Nevada and Arizona on several trips, often staying in Las Vegas. But my real adventure began each morning as I ventured out into the wild, camera in hand, to capture the untamed beauty of the desert.

Evening Glow at Hendrick’s Light Panorama

The evening I captured this image felt truly magical. While the colors weren’t what I had initially envisioned, the soft, pastel hues that unfolded created an even more serene and captivating atmosphere than the fiery red sky I had hoped for.

Sunset from Ferry Beach

There’s a special tradition we have—kicking off the RV season along the stunning central Maine coast. Arriving in late April or early May, just before the summer crowds, we find ourselves immersed in the quiet beauty of the landscape. Most days, you’ll find me out on the marshes, camera in hand, capturing the grace of shorebirds as they feed or stake their claim over territory. But this evening, I ventured a little further north to Ferry Beach, drawn by the promise of a perfect, serene scene.

Winter Orchard

Long ago, probably before I as born, a farmer planted a few rows of apple trees at his hilltop farm. Today, decades later, nice homes have been built around this orchard and there has been a renewed interest in grooming and encouraging this orchard to survive.  I have watched this scene over the years waiting for the “right” winter conditions to appear. My patience paid off as evidenced by this monochromatic image.

Spring Light

After months of shoveling snow and keeping the wood stove roaring, nothing compares to the pure joy of that first RV trip in the spring. There’s something magical about stepping outside and feeling the fresh air, soaking in the warmth of the sun, and watching the landscape come alive around you. As the leaves begin to unfurl, they paint the world in a dazzling array of greens—a vibrant palette that signals the start of a new season.

The Dead of Winter

Living in the northeastern United States, history feels like it's woven into the very landscape around me. For generations, families have carved out lives amidst the meadows, hills, and waterways of this region. Nowhere is this history more palpable than in the village cemeteries, where time seems to stand still. I captured this image on a quiet day, as a gentle snowfall blanketed the scene. At first glance, many think it's a black and white photograph—until I point out the subtle patina on the gravestones and the faint green hue of the evergreens in the background.
