About

By 2023, as the U.S. economy began to slow, the couple turned their focus toward cost efficiency. Maintaining affordable prices without sacrificing quality became a priority for them and their growing circle of patrons. The natural next step was to streamline their efforts by merging their separate websites into a single, unified destination.

Thus, in 2024, McQuade Fine Arts was officially launched as a collaborative platform showcasing not only the talents of Mike and Stephanie but also expanding to include a “family” of artists. The first addition will be Mike’s late brother, Robert A. McQuade, whose artistic legacy will soon be featured on the site, adding even more depth and diversity to the McQuade Fine Arts family.

We sincerely hope you enjoy your adventure exploring our pages and artists and, potentially, find an art-related feature you might like added to your life.

McQuade Fine Arts began in 2016 when Mike McQuade first ventured into publicly displaying his photography through the early website PhotoPiks.net. This platform served as the foundation for what would eventually evolve into the dynamic art hub of McQuade Fine Arts.

Fast forward to when their youngest son left the nest, and with both Mike and Stephanie newly retired, Stephanie was able to return to her passion for art after decades spent raising their family and working. In 2022, she launched a simple website to start making her mark in the art world.

That same year, Mike joined the esteemed Lakes Region Art Association, one of New Hampshire’s oldest art organizations, and began showcasing his photography at their Tilton, NH gallery. A year later, Stephanie also became part of this community, displaying her artwork alongside Mike's in the same gallery space.

About

Art has been a lifelong passion, woven into the very fabric of my being since childhood. Though the demands of life occasionally pulled me away from the easel, creativity was never far from my heart. I would often find solace in crafting, ensuring that the creative process remained an integral part of my routine. But in recent years, I've been reminded that my true "happy place" is found in the vibrant interplay of colors on canvas or paper, where I can experiment, explore, and express the deepest parts of myself.

I work with a diverse range of mediums, including pastels, watercolor, acrylics, and colored inks, each offering its own unique way to bring my visions to life. When my two boys left for college, their former bedroom transformed into a sanctuary—my art studio—where creativity could flourish without bounds.

When I'm not painting or volunteering at the Lakes Region Art Gallery in Tilton, NH, you'll likely find me on the road with my husband, exploring new landscapes and seeking inspiration from the ever-changing scenery through the windows of our RV.

In recent years, my work has garnered recognition, with my painting "Apple Blossoms" earning Second Place in watercolors, and "The Eyes Have It" achieving Second Place in Mixed Media competitions. In 2024, I embraced a new chapter in my artistic journey by beginning to teach "Watercolor on Canvas" classes at the Lakes Region Art Gallery, and occasionally at the historic Belknap Mill in Laconia, NH.

Since joining the Lakes Region Art Association in 2022, I have not only contributed as a member but also played an active role in marketing, social media, and event coordination. Each piece I create is a reflection of my journey, a testament to the joy and fulfillment I find in the act of creation. I hope that as you view my work, you feel the same connection to the beauty and emotion that I pour into every stroke.

About

Mike McQuade

I still remember the excitement of taking my very first picture at the age of 14 with my parent's Kodak Brownie camera. It was a simple yet memorable moment that sparked my passion for photography. By the time I turned 17, I bought my first camera, a Nikon with a 50mm lens, and began capturing the world through my own lens. At 20, I landed my first photography job as a darkroom technician for a local photographer. It was a time before digital photography and computer editing, and the magic of developing images in the darkroom was an unforgettable experience.

As life moved on, I ventured into a different career path to make ends meet. However, my passion for photography never waned. With the responsibilities of a growing family, my picture-taking mostly revolved around capturing special moments with a movie camera and early digital cameras.

Then, on my sixtieth birthday, my wife surprised me with an entry-level DSLR. It reignited the photography enthusiast in me, and I began rekindling my love for the art form that had always been a part of me.

Today, I print, matte and frame most of my work and have images hanging in the Lakes Region Art Gallery and on occasion, a few other venues. From early June through the holiday season, my images can be found at several art festivals in central New England. I hope you find some enjoyment at viewing my photography.
